Ocotber 4th, 2015

We went out to Rood Bridge Park to take photos around sunset. Turns out we were too late to get the reflection photos I wanted..... but there were other cool things.

This flower thing:

The following photos are pretty grainy. It was getting dark so I had to crank up my ISO pretty high, like 2500....

Along came a muskrat juvenile nutria !

It spotted me.

But it had a friend come along so it decided to stick around.

They are such elegant creatures.

No really they are!

Grass is a tasty snack!

And these two muskrats juvenile nutria are best friends!

While we were watching the muskrats juvenile nutria a heron came along.

Here is the reflection photo I did get today:

The best part of today? I found a woolly bear!!

I was out at Rood Bridge Park today!

I took some really terrible photos of ducks....

So, I took photos of duck feathers instead.

The muskrat photo came out okay. He was dragging a branch!

This little humming bird came out better then I expected. He was so high up and the sky was so white....

Proton helped me pick up the cranes I put on the Christmas Tree.

Hope you have a great night!

October 9th 2014

I found a new park tonight! It is really amazing. Rood Bridge Park is out in Hillsboro about 13 miles from where we live. I only explored a tiny fraction of the park, but what I found was pretty cool.

I came upon a little pond.

In this pond there we lots of Frogs!!! too bad they are probably non-native and invasive bullfrogs. But It was fun watching then all say "eep!" jump in the water when I came close.

There was also a pair of muskrats. I only got a photo of one.....

Here are the rest of the photos from around the pond:

These two talked with me about the how awesome the park was and they were the ones who first spotted the muskrat:

And my favorite photo from today, with absolutely no editing, straight out of the camera:

Hope you have a great night!!
Today is the final day to enter to win a print from my blog, so make those comments! I will announce the winners tomorrow in the first post of the 2nd year!

Jen and I went to the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge today.

It was about midday when we when so many of the birds and other animals were hiding. We did manage to see a few animals though.

Like this squirrel, going for a swim.....

I would have really liked to have a long lens.... sometimes 300mm isn't enough.... And who knew squirrels went swimming?!

We saw some birds:
Scrub Jay

Here is a Northern Red Breasted Sapsucker

We think that these are Red-shafted Northern Flickers.
This is a White Breasted Nuthatch. I am not sure if that is a rock he is carrying around.

and this little chicadee:

There was a fat Muskrat:

and a little Townsend's chipmunk:

And last but not least this little dragonfly:

Paddle-tailed Darner

Hope you have a great night!  Don't for get to comment! There are only 3 days left to enter the print give away!
