Joel and I stayed in Rough and Ready. It isn't really as far away as I thought so we will have to go visit again.

Here is beautiful Riley!

Here are all the cool things that are around her families property.

As we drove north we passed by lots of flooded fields filled with birds!

These are white faced ibis! They were really shy and wouldn't let me get very close.

And there were lots of Tundra swans too! I couldn't get close to them either......

The morning of  the Newport Marathon started normal enough, with Kathryn making coffee. (yes, she brought her espresso maker to Newport.)

Did I mention it is 4:30 AM?

This is our view from the hotel window! (at 5 AM)

Isn't she so cute in her running outfit?

Kathryn left me to go to the start. I made her some signs.

Then I went for a walk around before I caught the spectator bus.

I walked up a pretty big hill to get on a bus that make loops around the course. It was pretty neat to be able to freely move around the course to cheer Kathyrn on from different places along her run.

At the first stop, around mile 8.6, there was this bear.

Kathryn says she didn't see him......

I was glad there were some neat things around for me to photograph while I waited.

She finally made it!

I also saw her at mile 15.2 and 20.4.

Then I caught the bus to the finish line to wait for her some more.

The waiting wasn't so bad. I yelled and cheered other runners on telling them they were awesome. It was pretty fun.

This happened at the end of the race! Isn't this so adorable? He ran out to give his mom flowers at the end!

After a while Kathryn made it to the finish line too!

Yay! Kathryn!!

She was pretty happy to finish her 9th Marathon!

She got this really neat finishers medal! er.... glass thingy.....

All I got was a sunburn!!

I had fun today. I would definitely do it again.
