Katie and I went out to take photos this "afternoon". Today the sun set at 4:18 pm. We went to Log Boom Park and this is what we saw.

Then ALL the crows. I am not kidding it was thousands of them flew over head.

This heron is the boss of the pier. He is usually there.

And the cutest thing happened. There was a little girl fishing with her family and she came up to us and said she found something cute and fuzzy that we might want to take photos of since we were taking pictures. She pointed this guy out. We think it is a muskrat. It was getting really dark so the photo of him isn't the best. But he sure was fuzzy and cute.

After our sunset adventure we colored my hair with henna and indigo. This is a smelly and gross thing to do.  It has the fragrance of weird dirt and looks like poop.....

It also has to sit on your hair for HOURS.....

Good thing Sarah, Sarah, and Katie hung out with me.

I can't tell too much difference in the color (that is what I wanted) but I can't find all my grey hairs!! I will probably look different when it is day and dry! I am off to go rinse again......

This morning I realized that I was feeling a little frustrated with my Canon Elph. Don't get me wrong I really love that little camera, but lately I noticed it isn't doing what I want it to do. I don't have all the control of the image that I have with my 50D (duh, I know). It isn't focusing where I want.... and the exposures aren't quite right....

These photos are the ones that really made me reconsider walking around with my 50D. I wanted the background out of focus and not as recognizable.... That is all I wanted.

So, I tried going the other way the background isn't that much better and the color is terrible....

I think it was important for me to fully realize that I am far a far more capable then I am allowing myself to be right now. I know how to manually do everything on my camera... I grew up doing it. I guess I have just gotten lazy. I don't want to have to carry my "big" camera to and from work, it weighs too much.... sounds like a pretty lame excuse now, also worrying about someone mugging me doesn't seem like a good way to live my life.

I am pretty sure my couch ate my little pink Canon Elph.... I cannot find it :(

On the up side of this it is forcing me to use my 50D on manual. This is a good thing.

Tonight was Lady Planeswalker Society.  This is a group for women (and men too) to play Magic The Gathering in a safe, inviting, learning environment. It is a lot of fun.

As I walked to work this morning, I thought about how I was tired of taking photos of stuff. I really enjoy taking photos of people, I always have. I need to figure out a way to take more portraits.

I am also going to walk home from work a different way tomorrow. I think I need some new scenery for a bit.

I found these two random objects on my way to work this morning:

 This couch was not there when I walked home last night.

 It was pretty windy... I think this blew out of the trash.... It should have been in the recycle bin.

Walking home this evening I discovered that maybe my little head lamp wasn't enough light....

  Neither were the street lamp or the moon!

On the upside I did this today.... I know I complained about Christmas stuff being out so early this year..... but, this shoot was for out clinic Christmas card. These are just a little taste. You will have to wait for closer to Christmas to see the photo for our card!

Inky really just sat in the box with the hat on when we walked away to look at the photos. Even George had to come check out her cool Christmas digs. I think she would have sat there all afternoon, but she decided that eating the garland was a good idea so she got booted from the set.

Last but not least, I am actually in this photo three times. You have to look close!

And..... I didn't write anything at all yesterday.... I am going to start writing as soon as I hit post.... I have to catch up my word count! Yikes!

Happy November first! It is not only the start of a new month but it is the start of NaNoWriMo!! That is National Novel Writing Month! http://nanowrimo.org It is in fact goal # 4 to finish at least 50,000 words this year. I can do this :)

I tried to use my head lamp to take some photos this morning. The results are mixed but I think worth more experimenting.

 The rest of the photos were taken with ambient light only.

Happy Halloween!!

I bet you are expecting some great costume photos. Well, this year..... as for the last two years.... in fact all the Halloweens I have been in Seattle, is a dud. It is my favorite holiday and I am disappointed but, it is life and I can either be mad and upset or just roll with it. I am choosing to just roll with it and at least offer you some photos of Inky in her costume.
