October 30th 2013

Plans don't always go as planned. I know that very well and today turned out to be one of those days where only half the day went right. But, we make the best of it and move on :)

Joel didn't know his schedule at work had been changed and was called in on our way home from the grocery store. We had planned on helping some friends move and going to the haunted house we have tickets for. Instead I cleaned the kitchen a bit and did a load of laundry.

I also make collard greens for the first time!

Oops... got too close to the cooking greens :)

Collard greens are okay.... maybe I will try to make something else with them. I don't think the egg bake thing I made was that great.

While we were shopping I took these pictures:

Giant pumpkins are so cool and weird.

And finally I would like to thank Costco for creating delicious, high calorie treats for almost no money!

October 23rd 2013

I took my car in to the shop today for an oil change, general maintenance, and a recall fix. They said it would take 3 hours so Joel and I decided to walk over to 196th street to go find some food. We didn't think it would be too much of a walk since were were at 220th street. We were wrong. We walked THREE miles to find some food... and then three miles back to get my car. It was quite the adventure.

See... the first thing we saw on our walk was an old ear of corn in a discarded shoe.

Then there was a spider drinking water. She collected the dew in her web into a ball. It was the strangest thing to watch. I guess I didn't ever think about a spider needing a drink.

This is a different spider. There were about a dozen of them on the bush.

Here i am with my 50D.

And the last bit of weird. When we got back to the Honda dealership this dog with there. Her name is Daisy.

October 22nd 2013

I am going to have to come up with a project that involves photographing something inside. It is becoming too difficult to take photos outside when I walk to and from work on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Maybe with the time change it will be easier in the morning for a little while. I guess it will give me something to think about.
Here are some last flowers and things for today:

When I got to work this morning this little bird toy was sitting exactly like this in the cat bed.  I thought it was hilarious! My boss denies involvement so it must have been Inky.

This is me in my new shiny vest, now people can reflect on whether or not they want to run me over!

October 21st 2013

I am not impressed today. That is okay though. Everyday can't be amazing. I did find some fire to photograph. I can add into the portraits I did of Brittney yesterday. I am excited to start that project. It looks like I might have a good chunk of time Wednesday to experiment.

I am pretty tired. We had to run a bunch of errands after I got off work... blah....

And I did see this on my way to work this morning. First toilet paper by the side of the road, now a TV. I wonder what I will find tomorrow.

October 20th 2013

I forgot how much fun it was to hang out with friends a take photos of them. I had a great time at the Seattle Arboretum today with Brittney. She is in her cosplay as Chandra Nalaar,a Magic the Gathering Planeswalker. Chandra is Pyromancer (Fire Mage).

Britteny's husband, Alan, and I are going try our hands a making some fire in PhotoShop. I excited to have an actual project to work on instead of tutorials. It anything comes out awesome I will be sure to share!

Here are some other photos from the Arboretum today:

You might have to reflect about my self portrait today!

Today I used my Elph and my 50D! These images are unedited.

October 19th 2013

The morning was foggy again. There was plenty of dew on all the spider webs. There were many shots that I thought were pretty neat.  If you would like to see the spider webs go to my g+ page https://plus.google.com/u/0/ I have a spider web album that I hope I will be adding to.

One thing about Seattle, or maybe the whole Pacific Northwest, I find interesting is that in the fall or winter when it is cloudy, the light is pretty much the same all day. It stays a diffuse grey from sunrise to sunset. That is nice for no shadows but it hardly make for dramatic lighting. Oh well, diffuse light is better then no light! Tomorrow I am going to photograph my friend in her cosplay. I hope I do her and her hard work justice!

I took what I felt were some pretty great photos today. I actually couldn't get down to only 5 images today. I am VERY happy with my selection. Please enjoy these 8 images.

I made a friend on my walk today. My little friend that would not be still!

 And Me!

These photos were taken with a Canon PowerShot Elph 100HS and unedited.

October 16th 2013

I went to Woodland Park today. I  love the zoo and the rose garden is right next door. The rose garden still has a surprising number of blooming flowers.

It was dark today. The sun didn't burn off the clouds until after I took my photos. I made a pretty elementary error, to be fair it is an error I frequently made when I shot film, I forgot to change the ISO on my camera until after I had shot most of the photos. I had many disappointing, out of focus images due to camera shake.  This project is here to help me get better at what I love to do so I am grateful for the mistake. Let's hope I learn from it.

I love my little orange Honda Fit!

Today's photos were taken with Manual settings on my Canon 50D and  unedited, except for my self portrait that was taken with my Elph.
