I had an adventure with my friend Katrina today. We went to Vernonia Lake Park. This "lake" was originally a mill pond for Oregon-American Lumber Company. The company was based in Vernonia from the mid 1920s to 1957.  The logging trains would dump their loads in the lake to be sorted or stored. (Thanks for all this great info historyhunters.net)

According to historyhunters.net the only standing building is a fuel bunker. This building was the whole reason for our visit. I also tried a little bit of portraiture.

We also wondered around a bit and found some other bits of the old mill.

Not sure what part this was....
I think Katrina is standing on the old head rig foundation. A head rig is the saw that make the initial cut in a log.
One of Three Cyclone blowers that powered the dust collection system. We only found this one.

Inside the blower... I feel that these graffiti artists weren't as creative, or talented.....
It was a pretty cool day. Hope your day was just as good.

Tonight I had an adventure in the underworld of Seattle! We went on the underworld tour from Underground Tours. It was pretty neat. I learned all about how prostitution helped shape Seattle in the early days of the city.

We were under the current streets of Seattle. So there was lots of neat rusty, old stuff to take photos of. I bumped my ISO all the way to 3200, so the image quality isn't amazing but it looks pretty good for the amount of light I had to work with.

Our guide.

These are the sky lights.... I have walked over them thinking they were just some sort of art glass in the sidewalk.....

The Teller's Cage is where many of the underground ghost stories come from.

I guess the bank teller was shot during a robbery .....

The old bank vault

Detail of the vault door

After tour drinks!
and for no reason..... Inky in a basket.

I went to the doctor today.... it had valet parking.... it was weird....

I was a little early when I went to pick up Joel, so I walked around by the Pizza Hut.

There are a many abandoned housed around that neighborhood too...

This is/was a hardware store.... through the window... it is still filled with merchandise... totally creepy

There was this safe.... but it didn't seem like it did a very good job of being safe.

Someone got inside through the bottom....

This was the inside of the safe.
Lastly, there is a great produce store near the Pizza Hut too....

Here is their recycling:

Have a good night!
