New Years Eve Day

I am having two posts for New Years. This is the first.... obviously.... where I am going to talk about my hopes for the next year.... The second post, will probably come tomorrow and the photos will consist of a FABULOUS birthday day party of a wonderful friend.

I am looking forward to 2014. This is probably the first time I remember saying, I am excited about a new year and really mean it. I have a lot of good in my life and it can only get better!

At the end on 2012 I read a great blog post by Dr. Kelly Flanagan, called One Word That Will Transform Your Year . Last year I chose the word:

I spent 2013 manifesting more positive energy in my life. Sometimes it was easy and others it was very difficult. I am very pleased to say at the end of the year, I feel like I am a more positive person!

For 2014 I have decided to challenge myself and try three words.

I know I will have good days and bad days, be frustrated and be happy, but I know that is all part of my journey!

Oh and:

December 30th 2013

Thanks Panda Express for a fortune that is actually worth something! I feel that it is an accurate statement, I am feeling much more secure in many ways and we are definitely prosper a bit.

On my walk today it was a random object smorgasbord!
First, this cart was pretty lost... I don't even know where a "Food Emporium" is.......

Then there was a tea cup...... I bet some on is missing it.... If it is still there in the morning I will give it a new home.

I had a feeling when I passed by this shoe I had photographed it before... I did... On December 3rd..... but then it was under a tree.... not almost on the road.... I wonder why I haven't noticed it again, before today?

Finally, I found some headphones in a tree.....

At work my nephew left one of his mittens. Inky consented to wear it for a moment.
Louie, however, didn't like the idea at all.....

So, Inky and I had a warm fuzzy moment..... heavy on the fuzzy!

December 29th 2013

HA! Here is proof that I have a clean desk! How long it stays clean is a completely different pool... all bets are welcome....

Tonight we spent some time with some friends playing games, chatting, and enjoying some Thai food and wine.

Also these little things caught my attention....

This is the toilet flusher.... I love it!

Finally... We wouldn't be in Seattle if.....

December 28th 2013

Today is a random mish-mash of photos.

I found this juice box. It's name made me laugh.

There was also this... I am not sure what it is... a fancy paper clip... some sort of jewelry?

Here is a terrible photo of Louie.... But he has a cute look on his face.

And Inky was hording all the toys.

Joel and I went to dinner at one of our favorite little burger places.

There was this statue on the way to the restaurant.

Oh and look what Joel did for me! He cleaned off the desk and set me up with two monitors!

December 27th 2013

I looked in my cupboards today. I really like my dishes.
You can always tell who puts the plates away. Joel likes to make sure the colors are together.

I love my spoon rest. It was made by a glass artist in Portland OR. I can't remember what her name is....

This mug was a Christmas present. It sums up my life pretty well.

And you can never have enough mugs with skulls on them!

It was a lovely foggy morning.

There is something seriously wrong with my shampoo.... my hair is WAY greasy today.... I don't think I am going to use it anymore!

Oh and here is another photos of Inky's toes!

December 26th 2013

One of my words for next year is declutter. I would like to get rid of items just taking up space and send them on to new homes where they will be used.

One of the items just taking up space in our apartment are some towels that my mother gave me. These towels are old. Older then me old..... I think my parents may have gotten them as wedding presents.... that would make them 43 years old....

These towels are in less then pristine condition. I just can't seem to part with them though.... It feels like throwing away history.

Joel actually offered to through this towel away..... I said no....

There is this horrible orange towel.....

 This little pink towel

Another ugly orange one.... I guess my mom liked orange or maybe that was the "in" color that year....

Finally this is my favorite. For some reason I have very strong feelings for this towel. I look at it and I think about my childhood. I have no specific memories attached to it.... it is more a general feeling of happiness and home.

The towels I have gotten as gifts or bought myself don't have the same feeling of personality as these old ones do.... I could part with most any of the "new" towels I have and not really care....

I just can't seem to get rid of those old ones....
