November 1st 2013

Happy November first! It is not only the start of a new month but it is the start of NaNoWriMo!! That is National Novel Writing Month! http://nanowrimo.org It is in fact goal # 4 to finish at least 50,000 words this year. I can do this :)

I tried to use my head lamp to take some photos this morning. The results are mixed but I think worth more experimenting.

The rest of the photos were taken with ambient light only.

October 22nd 2013

I am going to have to come up with a project that involves photographing something inside. It is becoming too difficult to take photos outside when I walk to and from work on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Maybe with the time change it will be easier in the morning for a little while. I guess it will give me something to think about.
Here are some last flowers and things for today:

When I got to work this morning this little bird toy was sitting exactly like this in the cat bed.  I thought it was hilarious! My boss denies involvement so it must have been Inky.

This is me in my new shiny vest, now people can reflect on whether or not they want to run me over!

October 19th 2013

The morning was foggy again. There was plenty of dew on all the spider webs. There were many shots that I thought were pretty neat.  If you would like to see the spider webs go to my g+ page https://plus.google.com/u/0/ I have a spider web album that I hope I will be adding to.

One thing about Seattle, or maybe the whole Pacific Northwest, I find interesting is that in the fall or winter when it is cloudy, the light is pretty much the same all day. It stays a diffuse grey from sunrise to sunset. That is nice for no shadows but it hardly make for dramatic lighting. Oh well, diffuse light is better then no light! Tomorrow I am going to photograph my friend in her cosplay. I hope I do her and her hard work justice!

I took what I felt were some pretty great photos today. I actually couldn't get down to only 5 images today. I am VERY happy with my selection. Please enjoy these 8 images.

I made a friend on my walk today. My little friend that would not be still!

 And Me!

October 18th 2013

This morning was amazing! It was foggy and all the dew was clinging to everything. All the spider webs were visible. It was breathtaking!

But you know what happened as I happily experimented with my slow syncro flash? My battery died. Did I have my 2nd battery.... nope. It was at home on the charger. You think I would have learned this lesson.... but I guess it hasn't sunk in yet.... Why bother having extra batteries, if I am just going to leave them home.... jeez...

Joel, bless his heart, brought me my battery at work so I could shoot some more on the way home.

Oh well, it is supposed to be foggy again tomorrow, I will try again.

Here is what I did take today:

Not sure exactly what a happened here, but it is pretty creepy.... The fog added some weird elements.

I used the flash! and it doesn't look too horrible!

 Here I am walking home!

and then this was sitting there this morning......

Who leaves toilet paper on the side of the road?

October 17th 2013

The thing I have been dreading most started happening today. The days are getting shorter. I have to walk to and from work in semi-darkness.... soon it will be total darkness. As I suspected my little camera, as it is currently set, will not take very good "night" photos.
Example #1 (not part of my 5, merely showing you my frustration):

That is the moon... It doesn't even look like the moon... it looks like the sun. Lesson Learned. Thank you little pick camera.

So I will now have to figure out how I will do my 5 photos. Maybe I will find one of those teeny-tiny tripods....

Anyway here are my photos for today.

Yes, that is a piece of broccoli. I found it in the parking lot at work....

I thought I might give some insight into my decision to post a self portrait every day. I have lost 40 pounds since January 2013. I still have some to go, about 25 more pounds, and I am stalled out right now but, I hope that I will be able to find my motivation again. Walking to work is helping me, but I need to be more active on my days off too. Here is my photo today in my work pants. It might be cheating a bit because the elastic waist band broke but I think you get the idea.

Oh and because it is funny.... Inky sitting in her box on her bed.

October 16th 2013

I went to Woodland Park today. I  love the zoo and the rose garden is right next door. The rose garden still has a surprising number of blooming flowers.

It was dark today. The sun didn't burn off the clouds until after I took my photos. I made a pretty elementary error, to be fair it is an error I frequently made when I shot film, I forgot to change the ISO on my camera until after I had shot most of the photos. I had many disappointing, out of focus images due to camera shake.  This project is here to help me get better at what I love to do so I am grateful for the mistake. Let's hope I learn from it.

I love my little orange Honda Fit!

Today's photos were taken with Manual settings on my Canon 50D and  unedited, except for my self portrait that was taken with my Elph.

October 14th 2013

I am not as pleased with my work today, but I suppose that will happen. There are more days and more photos to be made. Everyday can't be an amazing photo day.

This is a dosa, Joel said he liked the photo, I am on the fence about it, but feel my other choices for today were equally as meh.
