October 15th 2013

I slept through my alarm this morning. I woke up 15 minutes before I had to go to work. Poor Joel had to get up and take me to work, then come home and have a nap before he had to go into work. Needless to say I left my camera sitting on the desk as I rushed out the door. I decided to do a bit of macro photography here at home tonight. Lazy macro photography... I used my Elph on its macro setting instead of dragging out my tripod and extension tubes... Here is my offering today... such as it is.

Joel and I dried this honey crisp apple ourselves.

Dinner! White beans, black beans, and kidney beans.

If you look close there is a fruit fly there on the edge of the tea bag.
We have had more then our fair share of them this fall.....

This is Molly's eye. She is my teddy bear I have had since I was 8.
Here I am standing on a chair. You can also see part on my messy kitchen, yes that is mail on the floor that hasn't been pick up yet. In fact, it is still on the floor right now.... I should probably go pick that up.

October 13th 2013

I went to Lincoln Park in south Seattle today. I will be honest, I got lost trying to get there. There is a reason why we decided to call the GPS G.L.A.D.O.S. Another trip to this huge park on the Puget Sound is in order!

(Warning: there are more then 5 photos and a self portrait  in this post)

I met an artist named Sky. He calls his work Shiftwood Sculptures. He makes moving, balancing sculptures from wood he finds in the environment. He brings nothing with him except simple wood working tools. He has recently returned from traveling the Oregon and Washington coasts building his sculptures. He even gave me a photograph of some of his work.

Here are some links to check out more of his work:

Today was pretty cool day out with my camera.

Oh and here I am with my favorite tea cup--

October 12th 2013

As I was walking home today I realized that I wasn't taking enough photos. That I was saving photos to take for a different day (How do you even save a photo for a different day?). I was thinking that if I took lots of  pictures on my walk home that there would be no more photos to take there.... EVER.  Looking back this is what I did yesterday too. I actually stopped myself from taking photos. That is the exact opposite of what this project is about for me.

When I realized my behavior was pretty counterproductive. I started pressing the shutter button. I am shooting digital.  I don't have to pay to develop all the rolls of film, or spend the time in the darkroom developing it. I can shoot as may photos as my card can hold. Who cares?!

And you know what? There will still be stuff to take photos of tomorrow.

These two were taken on my walk to work, in the rain.

These were taken on the walk home, in the sun.

Finally, here is me eating some kale and broccoli quiche I made for breakfast.

October 11th 2013

With a fresh battery I walked to work today.

 Because I can't help it:

And my first self portrait! I am walking home from a 10 hour work day.

October 10th

The start to my 5005 photos did not go as I had planned. My camera battery died while I was taking photos, only took 10 photos.... all of Inky practicing for the clinic's Christmas card photo. Here are the 5 I liked best.

Goal #3

I was inspired by a blog post that talked about creating a list of 101 goals to be completed in 1001 days. (http://www.thesimpledollar.com/101-goals-in-1001-days/)

Goal #3 on my list is: Take at least 5 photos every day.

That is 5005 photos.... I have decided to challenge myself a tiny bit more. I am going to add a 6th photo, a self portrait every day too (bringing the total photographs to 6005). There won't be a self portrait for October 10th, I just decided to start a blog and take a self portrait today, October 11th, so there are only 5 photos for the 10th.

I can't promise that all the photos will be amazing, or that you won't see too many photos of a black and white cat, her name is Inky. She sits next to me all day long at work.
